The evidence that Susanna (Anna)'s surname at birth was "Logan" is hardly abundant. Apparently it is reported in the "Virginia Historical Magazine" (vol/yr unk, p93, probably xxxvi (31 Dec 1928) which says that William Henderson (1699-1770) married Susannah Logan.

Reference is also made obliquely by a later researcher named Grace Bell Gaw who mentions that Anna Logan was the grandmother of Susanna Henderson and her brother William.

This indenture made this 3rd day of October in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred & twenty eight between James C. Pendleton & Susan
& his wife late Susan P. Henderson William H. Thomas and Jane R. his
wife late Jane R. Henderson David Henderson Mary C. Henderson and
William Henderson (which said Susan P. Pendleton Jame R. Thomas David
Mary C. and William Henderson are the children & heirs at law of James
Henderson late of the County of Augusta and state of Virginia) of the
one part and James McComb of the said County of Augusta of the other
part Witnesseth that the said James C. Pendleton & Susan P. his wife
William H. Thomas and Jane R. his wife David Henderson Mary C. Henderson
and William Henderson for and in consideration of the sum of Four
thousand three hundred & fifty Dollars to them in hand paid by the said
James Mccomb the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted
bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto
the said James McComb his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of
land lying and being in the County of Augusta on Hendersons creek and
bounded as by said survey as follows to wit Beginning at a stake corner

or parcel of land with all and singularits appertenances unto the said
James McComb his heirs and assigns forever And the said James C
Pendleton & Susan P. his wife William H. Thomas and Jane R. his wife

David H. Jones, great-grandson of Lucy Henderson Eckess through her daughter Mollie, related the following story:

Lucy and her husband (Jacob C. Eckess) did indeed move to Florida, where she died January 16, 1913. How did they end up in Florida you might ask... well, that is a story in itself.

Jacob had served in the 10th West Virginia Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War and was quite upset when the U.S. Supreme court decided about 1907 that West Virginia owed the State of Virginia a debt over three million dollars, with interest, totalling more than fifteen million dollars (a huge sum in those days). Great Grandfather Eckess was indignant as he had fought the rebels and won. Rather than be taxed to pay this debt to his late adversaries, he sold all of their property (including two farms) and moved to Florida which was, at that time, a rugged new frontier. Jacob and Lucy were both over 65 and it was a formidable undertaking. They settled at Dinsmore, about ten miles above Jacksonville.
