She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edward Stokes; a son-in-law, Edward Parsons; a granddaughter, Amy Welter; four sisters, her twin sister Jane Foster, and Barb Harder, Elizabeth Manley, Dorothy Ward, and four brothers, Phillip, William, Donald and John Caley. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Washington Chapel United Methodist Church, with inurnment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Jean loved reading, baking, working puzzles, gardening in her younger years and pizza. She was an active member of Washington Chapel and UMW for over 50 years. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. |

She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, but also supported UNI because her grandson Clay was on the wrestling team. Janice is survived by her two daughters, Sara (Jeff) Smead of Grabill, Indiana and Faith (Doug) Higdon of Hoagland, Indiana; her son-in-law, Ron Welter, of Gilbertville, Iowa; six grandchildren, Clay Welter, Bryant Smead, Nicholas (Haley) Smead, Madison Smead, Nathan (Carrie) Higdon and Kayla (Paul) Reidhaar; three great grandchildren, Sophia Smead, Hayden Higdon and Chance Gumm, and her sister, Pam (Joel) Wood, of Janesville. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her daughter, Amy Jo Welter, and her brother, Edward Stokes. |
