Name Variation | | Jody |
Married Name | | Brandvold |
Birth* | 25 Jan 1931 | Williston, North Dakota |
Marriage* | Dec 1950 | Groom=David Vernon Brandvold |
Death* | 30 Aug 2017 | Brooklyn Center, Minnesota; Lifestory from funeral card: Jody believed the most important things in life were not material things; Life is important, just like people who are special.
Jody, whose given name was Helen, was born January 2Sth, 1931 in Williston, North Dakota. She was the youngest of three children. After high school, Jody attended a medical tech school in Minneapolis. There, friends introduced her to David Brandvold and in December of 1950, they were married. They made their home in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota where they raised their two children, Belinda and Paul. Jody was an active member of the community. For 24 years she served on local and state school boards and in 1979 she was recognized as "Outstanding School Board Member of the Year" along with many other accolades. Through her service, she made life-long friendships and looked upon them as family, whom she highly respected. She also served a term on the State High School League and was appointed a member of the Brooklyn Center Historical Committee. Jody once said that when she retired from the school board, she hoped people would remember her as someone who "...cared a heck of a lot about her community. It may .sound corny, but that's it."
Jody also enjoyed a little risk taking, like skydiving with grand.son Brett, daughter-in-law Cindy & good friend "Gunnar" Bernards. She enjoyed sharing her beliefs & giving advice to others.
During the winter months, Jody would spend her time in Arizona, visiting family there and traveling to Idaho to spend time with her two grandsons, Cory & Brett. She was thankful for the many times she was treated to dinner, pull tabs and bingo by son Paul & daughter-in-law Cindy, and she was most grateful for the friend.ship and care .she received from her Twin Lake friends. Ken & Erik, and all of her other Minnesota family and friends.
Last, but not lea.st, Jody loved her pets and asked that all donations be made to the Animal Humane Society of Golden Valley. |

Marriage* | 6 Jul 1870 | Harrisville, Ritchie Co., West Virginia, USA; Groom=Jeremiah Rankin Johnston6 |
Biography* | | From the book: Jeremiah Rankin Johnston: a volume of biography and selections from his poems, editorials, sermons, and addresses:
Mrs. Johnston was a lady of fine intellectual gifts and attainments, an excellent conversationalist, and a devout Christian. Her tastes were literary, and her pen a graceful one. Her thoughts and life in later years were much devoted to religion, and her reading was largely on its practical and experimantal lines. Her conceptions of divine things grew into the better mysticism whichh was then coming into prominence in certain quarters. The effect of it in the home was to given an impulse to her husband's spirtual life, and to help him to a better consecration and wiser views of Christian living.
For a number of years the wife was under the spell of consumption, and a brave and pathetic battle for her life, receiving the most tender and thoughtful care from her husband; but in vain. She fell asleep Feb. 21, 1882.6 |
