The following is from the Hounam and Linton Monumental Inscription book This is from the Hounam Kirk parish cemetery.

(Flat stone at church door) Erected by John Rutherford, son of Gideon Rutherford farmer Kildonan in memory of Christian Stevenson spouse to Andrew Rutherford shepherd who died at Shielknowe age 75 years. The above Andrew Rutherford died at Brundenlaws ?.8. 1889 (probably 1839) aged 95 years. also his son John Rutherford died at Whitelee 11.5.1835 age 52 years and Andrew his son died 12.1.1837 aged 21 years. Likewise Beatrix Rutherford their daughter died at Jedburgh 8.12.1871 aged 87 years.e

Ericka Kreiss: James E. Stevens died as a POW in the Korean War. He is interred in the Willamette National Cemetery here in Portland, OR though he should have been buried in the one in Washington (some clerical error). Just this summer, one of my cousins finally got his name put on the Korean War Memorial in Olympia, Washington. Prior to that he had never been on any memorial. He was also a veteran of WWII.
