| Death | | Parkersburg?, USA |
| Married Name | | Franklin |
| Note* | | Probable other children of Edmond and Mary: (theory from Ann Holladay) :
Flora Ann Franklin, who married Daniel A. Grogan in Wood Co., VA in 1836 or 37.
Eliza Franklin who married James Ryon in Mason Co. in 1835.
Margaret J. Franklin, who married Thomas M. Butcher in Wood Co., in 1845. (note that a Bejamin F. Butcher, age 4, was enumerated with Edmond and Mary Franklin in 1850 - so they may have been raising their grandson after Margaret's death).
The 1830 census suggests that Edmond and Mary and 3 daughters. In 1840, 1 young female is still at home. Evidence is circumstantal, but reasonably strong, that Flora, Eliza, and Margaret are those daughters., Principal=Edmond Franklin3 |

She never married but her thrieft (sic) and industry added to the comfort of the household and she early set up a loom and her deft hands were kept busy flying the shuttle of the big loom that made the rag carpets of the neighborhood the dying of whose brilliant colors by means of madrid and logwood and hickory barks with indigo dyes and coperas hues, made a floor covering more rare and prized for the “best room” than the expensive weaves of the modern carpets of today. The remains of Margaret reposes in the old cemetery beside her kindred.4 |

| Biography* | | Robert H. Cree (Cree Family Notes, 1999):
Very little is known about the life of Robert Cree, Jr. He was born in County Down, Northern Ireland and came to this country at an early age, sometime prior to 1770. He was one of the older children of Robert and Janet Hamilton Cree. Robert Cree, Sr. and his family were living in Cumberland (now Perry) County, PA. during the years of the Revolutionary War. Several of his children including Robert, Jr. served during this war. Robert Jr. was a member of Capt. William Crawford's Co. of the Washington Militia in the fall of 1781. After this term of enlistment had expired, he evidently remained in Washington County and soon thereafter, he was followed there by his parents and the rest of his family.
Robert Cree, Jr. married Elizebeth Villars in Washingto County in 1786. they were the parents of eight children. The exact date of Robert's death is unknown, although according to the Washington County records, the inventory of his estate was made on November 12, 1795. It was customary at that time to inventory the estates as soon as possible after death so he evidently died in the fall of 1795, possibly in the month of October. The place of his burial is unknonw although obviously it would have been at some location in Washington County.
Sometime shortly after 1820, his widow, Elizebeth Villars Cree and some of her younger children moved to eastern Ohio, where she settled and bought property in Harrison County. She died there in 1841 and is buried in the Methodist Cemetery at Freeport, Harrison County. |

| Note* | | See Cree Family Notes (Robert H. Cree - 1999) for his explanation of and conclusion that William Cree, son of Robert Cree, is not the same William Cree, of Jefferson Township, who married Jane Marshall. Many histories have assumed this, but he makes a good case - based on a number of facts and observations - that this is not true and that they are in fact two separate William Crees. |
| Biography* | | Robert H. Cree (Cree Family Notes, 1999) has theorized that William Cree went to Floyd County, KY - and indicates that a William Cree is found in the 1810 census there. The William Cree of Floyd County, KY died before the1820 census and left a widow and two children. |

| Marriage* | 16 Mar 1781 | Greenbrier Co., Virginia, Note, this marriage was extracted as having occurred in 1781. Obviously, if correctly associated with this Martha McNeel it could not have occurred in 1781. Original record needs to be viewed. Until then, this is just a placeholder. (Others have reported the year as 1791 but I have no idea whether they saw the original record or not), Groom=Griffith Evans4,5,6 |
