Employment* Pilot?

There are some Armed Forces/Pilot listings on the Internet which make me believe that George Zethren was a military pilot. Since there were no age or place references, it's possible that the listings refer to someone else with the same name. However, since Zethren is a rare name, since George's SS card was issued in Nebraska, and since he died on an airforce base in CA - I tend to think my first hunch is right.
