| | Ingeborg Arentz Stub |
| Biography | | Tysnæs, Hordaland, Norway, Home in Tysnæs: And then first and last Tysnæs where my mother was born Sept. 7, 1815. The parish of Tysnæs with its 3 churches was an island. The parsonage stood out on a point near the church. The house itself was built like a box, in which the main room was the large parlor in blue with raftered ceiling. Close to the house was a small terraced kitchen garden and below this a good-sized orchard with apple and cherry trees. Otherwise there were few trees and the place was therefore somewhat barren. However, one feature made up for what else might be lacking - a wide view of the ocean. The parsonage directly faced the Bjørnefjord, and during heavy sea sprays of foam dashed high over the shore. Never could mother forget that a 13 year old brother was drowned almost right below the windows of the parsonage.4 |
| Biography* | | Age at 1850 census is listed as 30, which would place her birth as 1820. Age at 1880 census is listed as 63, which would place her birth as 1817. Since I know that their names were screwed up in the 1850 cenus (Stub Hanson instead of Hans Stub) and since we know that the age reported for Hans Andreas was wrong in the 1850 census but right in the 1880 census... I am (until their is further proof) making the leap that the 1880 census correctly reports Ingeborg's age.
There is contradictory information on the date of Ingeborg's death and burial. "Who's Who Among Pastors in All the Norwegian Lutheran Synods" lists the year of her death as 1892.... as does Holand in "Coon Valley, An Historical Account of the Norwegian congregations in coon Valley, 1928. Cemetery and burial records at Big Canoe Lutheran Church (per Arnold O. Haugen) have 2 dates: August 23, 1887 and September 22, 1890. Hans Andreas' obit in 1907 says she died in 1891.
Statewide search in Iowa Vital Records on 12 November 1999 (indexes from 1891-1895) yielded no death certificate. |

| Probate* | 15 Jan 1728 | Buddington Book: It is interesting to note that in Richar Atwell's will he mentions his children, Richard, William, John, Joanna, Benjamin and Patience. This suggests that either Richard and William wee children of a previous marriage or that one was Samuel or that one was in addition to Samuel.4 |
