| Biography* | According to great-grandaughter, Alice Hubbard Liptak, Minnie's "real" name was "Mirinda." I have only seen it as "Minnie" in the printed records encountered so far. Dx According to the 1900 US Census (Redwing, Goodhue Co., MN) Minnie was born in September 1857 in WI. Her father was born in Vermont, her mother in Ohio. Minnie's sister, Susie Ayer was living with them at the time of the cenus. Susie was born in March 1865 in WI and was employed as a teacher. Her death certificate lists her father as Hiram Ayer (born WI) and her mother as Sarah Ryder (born WI). Other accounts list her father as Horace and list birthplaces other than WI. The informant was William A. Hubbard (her son). Minnie's place of residence at the time of her death was 2208 Harriet Ave., Minneapolis, MN. Obituary appearing in the Minneapolis Tribune, Monday, October 5, 1936: MRS. MINNIE AYER HUBBARD. Mrs. Minnie Ayer Hubbard, 80, of 2208 Harriet avenue, resident of Minneapolis since 1902 and a former school teacher in the state, died unexpectedly Sunday at Franklin hospital. Mrs. Hubbard was born in Lodi, Wis., and came to Minneapolis in 1902. She taught school for a number of years. Her late husband, Frank B. (sic) Hubbard, was formerly superintendent of schools in Redwood Falls, Waseca and Red Wing. Mrs. Hubbard is survived by four sons, Stanley E., Will A., Harlow H. and Francis C. Services will be at 11 a. m. Tuesday at Central Lutheran church with the Rev. J.A.O. Stub, pastor, officiating, and burial will be at 2 p. m. at Oakwood cemetery in Red Wing. The body will lie in state at the church for 30 minutes before the services. ========== Jim McGovern (of Minnie Ayer Hubbard and her sons after the death of her husband in Red Wing): They moved to the Twin Cities in 1902, shortly after Frank's death and from the records must never have unpacked their things as they moved from location to location, sometimes twice in one year. Their first Twin Cities residence, interestingly enough, was at 1521 University S.E. in Minneapolis, not far from where The Old Man chose later to build the present KSTP studios. In 1904 they were off again to 628 14th Avenue S.E. where they stayed, until 1910. But from 1910 on it was one continual move. In 1910 Minnie and the boys were living at 2122 Knapp St. in the St. Anthony Park district of St. Paul - but the same year moved again to 828 S.E. in Minneapolis. In 1911, Minnie moved out to Centralia, Washington to live with Will, but that same year she was back at the Knapp Street address. In 1912, the Hubbards were at 701 Laurel in St. Paul. In 1913 at 961 Selby. In 1914 at 1936 Roblyn. And in 1914, 17 year old Stanley was not in school. He had dropped out and was a salesman for the Merritt J. Osborn Company at 675 Dayton, a distributor of water boilers and doorbells…. In 1915 the Hubbards disappeared somewhere. But in 1916 we find them at 2545 2nd Ave. S, Minneapolis with Stanley again listed as a salesman. In 1918 Minnie moved to 254 Wheeler, St. Paul. It was at this point that Will Hubbard took the family to Louisville…. When they returned to the Twin Cities in late 1922, Minnie was on the move again. In 1922 the Hubbard family was living at 3319 Blaisdell while Stanley was reported as a salesman for the Haynes Company, another doorbell company, and listed as residing at "Seton L.M." But in 1924 Minnie finally found a place where circumstances permitted her to stay until she died October 4, 1936 - 500 West Franklin Avenue, Minneapolis. The Franklin Avenue address was also reported to be the first "studios" of WAMD. In 1924 Stanley was living there and a salesman for the Geneva Heater Company. In 1925 and 1926, the same. | |

Hubbard-Ayer One of the most delightful events in the history of Lodi, occurred at the Baptist church on Tuesday evening last, in the public celebration of the marriage of Prof. F.V. Hubbard, of Redwood Falls, Minn., and Miss Minnie L. Ayer, one of Lodi's choicest daughters. This is the bride's native village, and her cheerful disposition, coupled with a circumspect life, had won for her a host of friends who seemed to vie with each other in trying to make the occasion one to be long and pleasantly remembered, an effort to which nature lent aid by making Tuesday one of the brightest and balmiest of the season. A public invitation having been extended to the friends, the response was most hearty, and long before the appointed hour, the church was filled. Promptly at eight o'clock the bridal party, consisting of the bride and groom and four attendants, viz: Misses Sue Ayer and Grace Richards and Messrs. George Ayer and H.N. Simons, entered, and passed up the aisle, responsive to the music of Mendelssohn's Wedding March - Mrs. T.E. Lewis, of Baraboo, presiding at the organ - taking their places under the florally decorated arch. Rev. S.S. Utter, the Baptist clergyman, quickly and gracefully sanctioned the plighted vows, and welded the marriage bonds nevermore to be severed. Then followed congratulations, warm, cheerful, and abundant. The bridal party then repaired to the home of the bride's parents, where a reception was tendered the relatives; but the after-supper chat and merry songs must be cut short, for the train was approaching which was to bear away the newly married couple on their bridal trip. We must not fail to speak of the floral decorations, which were elaborate and beautiful, and though arranged by members of the church where the marriage took place, great credit and thanks are due members of other churches, who so cheerfully and generously contributed plants and flowers. Indeed, the lavish kindness of friends has signally marked the whole affair, and Minnie cannot fail to go to her new home with sweet memories of her last days in the home of her childhood.; Groom=Frank Valentine Hubbard10,11,12,13,14,15,16 |

| Note* | 21 Mar 1944 | Letter written by Nellie Ayer Storms on March 21st 1944 to her nephew, Earl Ayer Chaffee. The original (as of 2004) is in the possession of Earl's granddaughter, Judy Mastin of Orange, California. This letter was made from a copy of the family record of Horace Mitchell Ayer and was made by Horace for his daughter, Nellie, before she was married. Horace Ayer's record, itself, is, in part, a copy of the record made by his grandfather, Samuel Rogers. Judy Mastin says that her mother came into possession of this family history because her mother was visiting her father, Earl, when it arrived in the mail from his Aunt Nellie. Apparently there was also a "cover letter" from Nellie that has been lost, but which Judy's mother believes may have contained information on the most recent generation of Ayers. An accurate record of the names + births of the children of John + Susan Rogers of Boxford Mass with a short sketch of their pedigree. The Reverend John Rogers was born in 1684. There were several children born to them I will only mention Samuel Rogers who was born Aug. 13 - 1760. He was the son of Nathanial and Rebecca and was the one that wrote this record in 1802. Samuel Rogers son of Nathiel and Rebecca Rogers was born in Leominster Mass. Aug 13 - 1760 and lived there until March 5 1773. His father moved to Orford N.H. then moved to Haverhill N.H. and on to Morristown now called Forancouie until April 1780. This was copied from my father's own record that he made for me before I was married. Nellie Ayer Storms March 21st 1944 It is the William Ayer on the opposite page that will give your daughters a right to join the D.A.R. or you the "son's of the Revolution.
