Clara Eggen was the daughter of Hans and Anna Eggen. Anna died sometime shortly after 1900. She was supposed to have been the best friend of Ingrid (Sagmoen) Mellesmoen. Hans went to Alberta with his children to join his brother, but Clara was a sickly child and could not travel. She was left behind with Ole and Ingrid Mellesmoen. In a letter she wrote during a Mellesmoen reunion held in 1989 she states she has stayed in touch with her siblings and has now outlived every one of the "healthy" brothers and sisters. :-)) Clara married a great-uncle of mine, Bennie Mellesmoen, son of Ole's brother, Gunder Mellesmoen. So, although Clara was not blood-related to Ole Mellesmoen, her children were.

Peter O. Estenson is a resident of Vineland township, Polk county, MN.
Mr. Estenson was born in Tonset Osterdalen, Norway, May 14, 1850, and was
the second in order of birth of eight children born to Ole and Ingrid
Estenson. The father brought the family to America when our subject was
seven years old. They took passage on a sailing vessel and nine weeks were
spent on the sea.
Mr. Estenson was married in 1879 to Miss Anna Bangen, of Norway. The
following children have been born of this union: Ingrid, Stella, Simon,
Bjorstjerne, Olga and Ole.

Bertha Thompson

Mrs. Bertha Thompson was born to Ole and Johanna Foldshaugmoen April 5, 1862 in Foldalen, Norway. At the age of 20 she came to America staying for some time with relatives in Spring Lake before going to Minneapolis, where she worked for several years.

September 20, 1889 she married Thore Thompson, and the young couple immediately went to housekeeping on the farm which Mr. Thompson had bought in Spring Lake. Three daughters were born to them, all of whom are living - Inga, married to Gust Nelson, who bought the old home place in Spring Lake; Ollie, married to John Sand, formerly
of Knapp, but now living at Chippewa Falls; and Effie, married to Alvin Feldman of Bay City.

After Mr. Thompson's death, which occurred July 14, 1911, Mrs. Thompson continued to live on the farm.

She died at the hospital in Chippewa Falls on April 22, 1926. Funeral services were held at the Spring Lake Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon, April 24, 1926, Rev. Berven officiating.

Besides her three daughters, she is survived by a brother and a sister in Norway and by eight grandchildren.
