Born in Spring Valley, WI, to Otto and Inga Hendrickson, died at age 89yrs. on Sept. 22, 2002, surrounded and lovingly cared for by her children and grandchildren at the Milwaukee Catholic Home. After graduating from Luther School of Nursing in Eau Claire. Signe worked at Milwaukee Children's Hospital and at St. Luke's Hospital where she met Dr. Steve Chojnacki. They married on Feb. 12, 1938, at Gesu Church. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband of fifty years, her brothers Jacob and Henrik, her sisters Esther Helgesen and Inger McConnon, and her granddaughter Sarah Chojnacki. Signe is the loving mother of Stanley (Barbara Harris), John (Liz), Ruth, Catherine O'Neill, David (Savvas Koumelis) Joseph (Kathryn Geimer), Stephen (Kathleen Drury), Thomas (Gloria), Signe Gleeson (Orlandus Bell), Mary (Marty) Aronson and Gregory (Mary) Walz-Chojnacki. Her dear Grandchildren are Laura (Kevin), Monica (Pietro), Beth (Mike), Peter (Jean), Mary Catherine (Mike), Margaret Signe, Bess (Peter), Kasia (Chris), Liam, Taidgh, Emily, Thomas (Alanna), Steve, Joe, Gretchen, Megan (Ben), Mary-Signe, Joseph, Joelle, Luke, Grace, Rebecca, Nicholas, Vincent, Rachel, Deidre, Aisling, Rachel, Sarah, Gabe, Andrzey, Daniel, Gregory and Sofia. Her dear great-grandchildren are Giulia, Anna, Matthew, David, Katie, Michael, Sarah, Cooper, Isabelle and Gabriela. She is survived by her brother Olaf (Margaret) Hendrickson, brother-in-law Rev. Kenneth J. Helgesen, sister-in-law Irene Chojnacki, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. While raising her eleven children, Signe was active at St. Josaphat Basilica, most recently in the Christian Women's, Human Concerns and St. Vincent de Paul groups. She participated in the Marquette University High School Mothers' Guild and the Holy Angels Academy Parents' organization. With her husband Steve she attended courses at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and learned rosemaling. Bilingual in English and Norwegian, she learned Polish soon after marriage. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at THE BASILICA OF ST. JOSAPHAT, 601 W. Lincoln Ave., Wed. at 10:00A.M. Visitation will be Tues. at the Funeral Home, from 2:30 to 7:30P.M. with a parish vigil at 7:00P.M., also Wed. from 9 to 9:45A.M. In Lieu of flowers, memorials for Signe may be sent to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee World Mission Office or to the Foundation for Religious Retirement, 3221 S. Lake Dr., Milwaukee 53235. The Chojnacki family gives thanks to God for our mother/grandmother's rich and loving life. We are grateful for her example of generosity and acceptance of each person who entered her life, and remain confident of her enduring presence to us all. Arthur William Jacobson, age 89, died Sunday, March 25, 1984 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home where he had been a resident the past two years.
He was born June 5, 1894 to the late Jacob and Carrie (Larson) Jacobson in Spring Lake Township, Pierce County, WI where he lived his entire life and had farmed.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and was a lifelong active member of the Spring Lake Lutheran Church.
During World War I he served his country both Stateside and in France, with the U. S. Army, and was a member of the Richerd-Danielson American Legion Post No. 227, Spring Valley, WI.
June 1, 1927 he married Lenora Jacobson in Spring Lake Township.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1981, a son LeRoy, 5 sisters, Laura (Mrs. Alvin Reed); Marie, (Mrs. Joseph Johnson); Julia, (Mrs. George Wild); Viola, (Mrs. Herb Schofield); Ida Jacobson; and two brothers Louie and Charles.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Robert Jacobson of Hudson, WI; one brother, Henry Jacobson, Spring Valley, WI; 2 grandsons, Michael and Brian Jacobson both of Hudson, WI; one granddaughter, Debra Jacobson of Worthington, MN; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was held Tuesday at the Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley with funeral services Wednesday, March 28, 1984 at the Spring Lake Lutheran Church. Rev. James Gordon officiating. Presentation of the flag and military honors were given by the Richard Danielson American Legion Post at grave side services in the church cemetery. |

Lenora Ida Jacobson
Lenora Ida Jacobson, age 76, died Friday, July 17, 1981 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home where she had been a resident the past year.
She was born April 5, 1905 to the late Ole and Thora (Thompson) Jacobson in Spring Lake Township, Pierce Co., WI. She was baptized and confirmed in the christian faith and was an active life long member of the Spring Lake Lutheran Church and its organizations.
Following graduation from Elmwood High School she attended River Falls Normal, receiving a Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education. Lenora taught at the Brookside School in Spring Lake for several years.
June 1, 1927 she was united in marriage to Arthur W. Jacobson at Spring Valley, WI.
The union was blessed with a family of two children, Lorraine (Mrs. Robert Jacobson) of Hudson, WI and LeRoy, deceased. The Jacobsons farmed the Jacobson Homestead Farm in Spring Lake township.
She was a member of Spring Valley American Legion Auxiliary.
Preceding her in death were her son LeRoy and one sister Olga Magnuson.

LeRoy Arthur Jacobson
LeRoy Arthur Jacobson was born to Arthur and Lenora Jacobson, October 19, 1934 in Spring Lake Township, Pierce Co., WI.
He was baptized Nov. 11, 1934 at his home by Rev. Sven Berven and confirmed in the Spring Lake Lutheran Church by Rev. Berven June 19, 1949. He served as custodian of his church for several years and was an active and sincere member of this congregation at the time of his death.
LeRoy attended the elementary school at Brookside and Spring Valley, graduating from Spring Valley High School in May 1953.
On June 6, 1959, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Hannemann at Ladysmith, WI. Since their marriage they made their home and operated his father's farm in Spring Lake.
Thursday, July 30th, at his home he was stricken with an apparent heart attack. He was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI., never regaining consciousness, he passed away Friday, July 31, 1964 at the youthful age of 29 years, 9 months and 12 days.
Surviving him are his wife Bonnie, his parents, Arthur and Lenora Jacobson of Spring Lake; one sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Robert Jacobson, and one niece Debra of Shawano; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 3, 1964 at the Spring Lake Lutheran Church with Rev. W. C. Aanestad officiating. Interment in Spring Lake Cemetery.

ORVAL A. JACOBSON Orval Alfred Jacobson was born in Spring Valley, WI, on December 29, 1911, the youngest child of Ole and Thora Jacobson of Spring Lake Township. He grew up on the family farm in Spring Lake, and was baptized and confirmed at the Spring Lake Lutheran Church, and attended the Brookside school. On June 1, 1946, he was united in marriage to Betty Holm at the Spring Valley parsonage. They continued to live on the home farm until 1954, when his health deteriorated to the point they had to try another climate. They moved to Colorado Springs, where he was a janitor at Helen Hunt School, and later he and his brother-in-law had a yard service. He entered Namaste on February 5, 1997, where he passed away May 25, 2003, at the age of 91-1/2 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in 1994; his parents, and all his sisters and brothers. He is survived by five nieces (including a special niece, Betty Larson), one nephew, and many cousins and friends. Funeral Services were held on Friday. Entombment was at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels. |
